Auto modes are designed to automatically regulate the pressure in the brake cylinder (BC) depending on the car load. The presence of auto mode eliminates the need to manually switch the braking modes of the car air distributors.
Auto mode, model No. 265A-1T, is installed on freight cars between the air distributor and the brake cylinder.
Design and operating principle
On freight wagons of Ukrainian railways, a freight automatic load control device is used, which has a pneumatic relay and a damping unit that changes the ratio of the relay lever arms depending on the wagon load.
The load-control relay is included in the air pipeline from the air distributor to the brake cylinder.
The damping unit, via its actuator, rests on the unsprung bogie beam of the wagon and measures the deflection of the spring set depending on the load.
The damper piston suppresses the transmission of vertical vibrations of the wagon to the actuator of the automatic load control device.
Freight automatic load control devices on passenger rolling stock with air springs have a pneumatic actuator and operate depending on the pressure in the air spring.
Purpose
The use of a freight automatic load control device makes it possible to:

eliminate manual switching from one mode to another, avoiding situations when such switching has not been performed;

distribute the braking force evenly between wagons;

reduce longitudinal forces during braking of the train consist and thus realise high tractive and braking forces;
-
improve the traction and energy performance of the train.
